My name is Jessica and I am 23 years old. I began writing in high school for the school newspaper, and since have set my eyes on becoming a writer.
This website is a compilation of my writing gigs over the last few years including all of my articles written for my column for the running website, iRunFar.com, various freelance articles and clips from school media publications.
It also includes some of my articles written for my position as a reporter for the Herald-Argus Newspaper in La Porte, IN.
I graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in May 2015 with a dual degree in journalism and English with a concentration in public and professional writing. Within school classes I have traveled to Kenya, Africa to report on HIV/AIDS and have experience with interviewing and multimedia skills needed to complete any type of journalism coverage.
In July 2015, I was hired as a reporter for the HA newspaper, a five-day publication. In this position I cover all city meetings and events and La Porte County wide issues, which includes covering the Criminal Court dealings every other week.
I freelance write a column for the website, iRunFar.com, every month called WeRunFar. Each month I interview an ultrarunner from all over the country and produce an in-depth piece on that person(s) life. This job spawned from an internship opportunity I was given from January through May of 2014. The column supports my own hobby of ultrarunning, which is running races over a marathon distance.
My reports and thoughts on the sport, and other things in my life, can be found on my personal blog, https://dunerunnergirl.wordpress.com/.
I hope to one day be able to freelance full-time for a range of different subject publications. Until then, you can find me in the streets or in the trails representing the voice of the community.
This is the main page of the site. You can find the specific articles from the various publications I write for on the CATEGORIES SIDE MENU.
